This position determines material requirements and is responsible for supervising and coordinating activities of workers engaged in cutting, punching, shearing, slitting metal sheets, and metal strips. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Determine lot number and part number used on each job. Create work instruction for shearing and disposition of material to be used or discarded. Substitute material if feasible. Post materials to jobs when needed. Determine proper bill of material quantities. Work with purchasing to determine proper quantities and delivery locations. Supervise and coordinate the activities of shear operators, including assigning tasks, monitoring performance, and providing guidance and support as needed. Ensure shear operations are performed in accordance with established quality standards, including inspecting material for defects. Monitor production schedules and adjust staffing levels as needed to meet production targets. Coordinate with other departments, such as engineering and maintenance, to ensure equipment is properly maintained and repaired. Ensure compliance with safety policies and procedures, including conducting regular safety audits and providing training to staff as needed. Monitor and analyze production data to identify opportunities for improvement and implementing changes as needed. Maintain accurate records of production activity, including production rates, downtime, and materials usage. Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and identifying opportunities for cost savings. Unload incoming materials from trucks. Receive and issue materials. Weigh outgoing scrap and record amounts in log. Ensure compliance with all relevant ISO and AS procedures specific to the job function. Perform activities of workers supervised. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: To be successful in this role, a shear supervisor in metal stamping must have strong leadership and communication skills, as well as a deep understanding of metal stamping processes and equipment. The ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities is also essential. Relevant experience in metal stamping or a related field is required. Additionally, experience in supervising and leading teams is highly desirable. You must be a team player and a change agent as the Manufacturing Controller may assign additional tasks. Skills and Experience: 2-5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment. Forklift and crane certificate required.
