My client is seeking a Senior Medical Writer to join their global medical communications agency. There are several positions across medical affairs, commercial, and publications. Remote opportunities are available on the East/West Coast.
THE ROLE: Design, develop, and edit a wide range of materials for various audiences. Deliver well-written, scientifically accurate materials that align with client objectives and are ready for review. Demonstrate a solid understanding of the brief, asking informed questions to ensure all necessary information is gathered for independent work. Present content updates to clients and collaborate with HCPs and subject matter experts to develop and approve materials. Complete written materials on time and within budget. Utilize client review systems (e.g., Veeva, DataVision). Review basic medical communication deliverables, offering constructive feedback. Confidently attend client meetings and deliverables (e.g., advisory boards) independently, with minimal senior supervision. Conduct research on medical and scientific topics, using reputable sources and annotating them during the writing process. Stay informed about the latest scientific advancements and share relevant knowledge with internal teams and clients. Work flexibly across various client teams, deliverables, and therapeutic areas, gaining expertise in leading experts within specific therapeutic areas. Attend and contribute to client meetings, including project kick-offs, status updates, and client/HCP calls as needed. Provide regular updates to senior team members, ensuring they are aware of account activity and flagging any potential issues. Think strategically beyond individual tasks, identifying interdependencies and potential challenges. Follow SOPs and manage time effectively to prioritize across multiple accounts. Consistently meet deadlines, notifying senior team members when additional time is required. Demonstrate an understanding of allocated hours and work efficiently within them. Maintain an average billability of approximately 85%. Ensure timesheets are completed accurately and on time. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Higher degree in a relevant subject (PhD, MD, PharmD, etc.). Proactive and enthusiastic about trying new things. 2–3 years of medical writing experience within a medical communications agency setting. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a passion for creativity. Good organizational skills and ability to work under pressure. Experience working with clients and HCPs. Ability to provide basic reviews of deliverables for scientific accuracy and integrity.
