Utility System Maintenance Division Manager
Job Summary
The City of Corsicana is seeking a skilled and experienced
Utility System Maintenance Division Manager
to provide on-site working leadership and supervision to utility crews. This position plans, assigns, and evaluates crew work related to the installation, maintenance, and repair of water transmission lines, distribution mains, and sewage collection infrastructure. Manage and assist with utility maintenance operations, including water taps, leak repairs, new water/sewer main installation, sewer line cleaning, and meter installations Assist crew chiefs with new service connections to water and sewer lines Prepare cost estimates for extending services to new properties or developments Coordinate street closures with Public Works to notify dispatch, police, and fire Locate water and sewer lines for other utility companies as needed Inspect and oversee contractor work to ensure adherence to City standards Ensure safety compliance and quality control through job site inspections Operate heavy equipment (backhoe, dump truck, tractor) as necessary Collaborate with the Assistant Public Works Director on budgeting and cost management Maintain records and prepare reports on crew activities, projects, and inspections Perform additional duties as assigned Education & Experience
High School Diploma or GED required Minimum of
five (5) years of supervisory experience
in utilities, construction, or infrastructure project management Equivalent combinations of education and municipal experience may be considered Must obtain and maintain the following within
two (2) years : Class “II” Wastewater License
(As issued by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality – TCEQ) Strong technical understanding of water and sewer systems, construction management, and basic civil engineering principles Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Knowledge of
NCTCOG testing procedures Familiarity with construction materials for water/sewer systems, pump stations, tanks, and wells Skilled in preparing accurate
project cost estimates Knowledge of applicable
City policies, laws, and utility regulations Ability to supervise, coordinate, and evaluate staff and field operations Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and standard office equipment Clear and effective communication skills (verbal and written) Skilled in safe operation of equipment, tools, and vehicles Working Conditions & Physical Requirements
Work performed in both office and outdoor environments, including active construction and utility job sites Regular exposure to: Extreme temperatures , mud, dust, fumes, noise, and moving traffic Heavy machinery , chemicals, confined spaces, and unstable terrain Lifting/carrying up to
80 lbs , pushing/pulling up to
100 lbs Climbing, walking, bending, kneeling, and using hand tools and machinery Must be able to perform strenuous physical labor and repetitive motions Vision requirements include close vision and the ability to adjust focus Regular in-person attendance required , including evenings, weekends, and on-call emergency response Employment Requirements
