Provides prescribed medical treatment and personal care services to ill, injured, convalescent, and disabled persons in the retirement and nursing community, performing the following duties: ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The following duties are typical for this position. This list is not exhaustive. Other duties may be required and assigned. Ensures resident rights, safety, and security are the top priority. Provides services in accordance with state assisted living standards and nurse practice act. Participates in pre-admission assessments for potential residents. Participates in all in-service programs to expand and develop abilities. Maintains compliance with all personnel policies, community policies and procedures, and Federal/State regulations and standards. Understands and implements the Fire Safety and Disaster Preparedness Plan and evacuation procedures during drills and emergencies. Performs assessments on residents for functional and mental abilities and develops service plans based on needs assessments. Reviews and revises assessments and service plans as needed, especially when resident conditions change. Obtains and documents residents’ vital signs and weight, intervening appropriately. Assists residents with scheduling medical, dental, and laboratory appointments. Assists physicians with resident examinations as needed and reviews/transcribes physician's orders. Administers and documents medications following the five rights: medication, route, resident, time, dose. Provides medical treatments as ordered and supervises residents who self-administer medications. Observes residents, reports condition changes, and documents appropriately. Supervises residents in self-care of medical equipment such as oxygen, catheters, etc. Assists residents with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, and grooming. Responds to resident and family inquiries and calls for assistance. Maintains supplies, including ordering, stocking, and monitoring expiration dates. Documents services and supplies for billing purposes. Participates in risk management procedures and maintains a safe, clean, homelike environment. Participates in care level committees and resident transfers. Interacts with residents, guests, and staff professionally and hospitably. Maintains confidentiality of residents’ private health information. Oversees and manages CNAs working with nurses assigned to residents and manages CNA lunch and break schedules. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Mentors personal care aides and/or nursing assistants (CNAs). QUALIFICATIONS
