Job Description - Blood Donor Center Recruiter Schedule:

This position requires flexible hours, which may include weekends, and the ability to travel to various donation sites. Responsible for the recruitment of whole blood, platelet, and plasma pheresis donors. Serve as donor coordinator and information resource for autologous and directed donor program. Develops both internal and external marketing programs to increase donor base for the Blood Donor Center's fixed site(s) and Blood Mobile(s), and develop and maintain databases. Qualifications

Minimum Education : Bachelor's Degree Or equivalent in a related field. Degree in communications, public relations, or marketing preferred, with some medical or science related coursework preferred. Minimum Work Experience : 1 year Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a related field. Degree in communications, public relations, or marketing preferred, with some medical or science related coursework preferred. Skills:

Strong communication and persuasion skills to engage the community and motivate individuals to donate blood. Must also possess excellent organizational and time management skills, understanding blood donation processes and eligibility criteria to effectively recruit and retain donors. Additionally, must have a strong desire to help others, community outreach experience, and comfort working independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, sometimes stressful, environment. Functional Accountabilities

Donor Coordination

Serve as donor coordinator for autologous and directed donation program; be an information source for parents and physicians who have questions concerning the program. Ensure that paperwork for autologous and directed donations is properly initiated, completed and filed; notify family and/or physician of unavailable units. Explain donation procedure to prospective donors, assess understanding and modify presentation to assure that the informed consent is accurate. Statistical Reports

Maintain statistical information on autologous, directed, employee, community and pheresis donations; prepare and report monthly statistics. Marketing

Market donor services both internally and externally through written material, visual displays, electronic communications, and other marketing tools; procure necessary materials and interfaces with Development, Public Relations, Media, and Legal departments to achieve these goals. Increase Donor Base

Develop short- and long-range programs to increase donor base; establishes goals for programs; meet with Blood Donor Center Coordinator and Transfusion Medicine Supervisor to review programs. Interview Donors

Interview prospective donors to obtain detailed medical history; assess patient information, laboratory data and physical condition to determine suitability of donor according to established guidelines. Safety
