Nuclear Medicine Technologist (PRN) - Cardiology

# **Position Summary**Prepares, measures, and administers radiopharmaceuticals in diagnostic and therapeutic studies, utilizing a variety of equipment and following prescribed procedures.# **Job Description****Primary Duties & Responsibilities:*** Prepares stock solutions of radiopharmaceutical materials, calculates doses and administers doses under the direction of a physician.* Calibrates equipment. Performs diagnostic studies on patients as prescribed by physician using scanners or scintillation cameras to detect radiation emitted and to produce image of organ on photographic film.* Measures radioactivity, using Geiger counters, scalers and scintillation detectors.* Administers therapeutic doses of radiopharmaceuticals under direction of physician.* Follows radiation safety techniques in use and disposal of radioactive materials.* Renders appropriate patient care. Explains test procedures and safety precautions to patients and assists them during procedures.
