Maintenance Manager in Charlotte, NC . The
Maintenance Manager
will coordinate the maintenance and repair of production or processing machines and equipment with minimal downtime. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS FOR THIS POSITION: Report to General Manager and Production Superintendent any information that may impede the operation of the plant and make recommendations to minimize downtime and expenses. Conduct selective inventory monthly and verify with computerized inventory of maintenance parts and supplies. Locate O.E.M. manufacturers and after-market distributors to obtain competitive costs on parts or improved service. Initiate and/or maintain a cost-effective preventive maintenance program utilizing the MVP system. Coordinate and implement the overall maintenance program, ensuring equipment is on the preventive maintenance program and schedules are valid and completed according to the system schedule. Conduct weekly Production/Safety meetings with department personnel. Be available to address issues immediately as they arise, including during off-hours. Implement, maintain, and support all company policies and procedures, including safety program and good housekeeping. Assist in selection, evaluation, and lead installation of capital and expense projects. Set high expectations for quality of work for team and self. Engage with issues, root causes, and proactive measures to ensure continuous improvement, operational throughput, and equipment reliability. Learn and understand all equipment in the plant to lead effectively and mentor employees. Train employees, reward and discipline employees, resolve conflicts, build teams, coach and lead employees to improve, address complaints, and resolve problems. Maintain flexibility in support of the plant’s operational goals. Demonstrate ability to teach maintenance classification, qualification requirements, and proper maintenance procedures. Follow up on all work orders to ensure repairs and work are performed properly. Perform additional duties as assigned. REQUIRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or GED. Demonstrated supervisory skills. Four years of maintenance management experience in a manufacturing plant. PREFERRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE: College and/or related technical courses in engineering, 5S, lean manufacturing, or reliability. Five years’ experience in the paper packaging industry with experience in electronics, mechanical, hydraulics, pneumatics, and electricity. REQUIRED SKILLS & ABILITIES: Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees. Ability to apply concepts of high school math. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Working knowledge of electrical, controls, pumps, hydraulics, building maintenance, automation, fabrication, and R&M spend management and vendor selection.
