General Description / Primary Purpose

The Assistant Director of Development for the College of Arts and Sciences, under the direction of a Director or above, identifies, cultivates, and solicits prospects for major gifts from individuals, corporations, foundations, or estates.

Job Function

Solicit charitable gifts to support the mission and vision of the University of North Florida.

Conduct 3 - 5 meetings per week with donors and prospective donors.

Discover, cultivate, solicit, and steward prospects and donors for major gifts and planned gifts.

Support the Director or Senior Director of Development in building and implementing an annual fundraising operating plan.

Develop and implement an annual solicitation plan for charitable support.

Maintain a portfolio of approximately 120 prospects and donors, raising mid-level gifts ($5,000-$100,000) and major gifts ($100,000+).

Plan and staff the unit’s major and annual giving programs, including Faculty and Staff Drive, with attention to goals and outcomes, including increasing giving, acquiring new donors, and renewing current donors.

Identify and qualify new prospects with the help of the Director, Dean, and Prospect Research.

Cultivate and solicit private foundations or corporations for significant gifts supporting college initiatives.

Support the Director and Dean in managing advisory councils.

Develop funding opportunities aligned with the university’s mission and donor interests.

Maintain accurate donor activity reports in the database.

Create a structured volunteer process to enhance fundraising effectiveness.

Perform other duties as assigned by the Director or Senior Director.

Marginal Functions

Represent the university on local, system-wide, or state committees.

Perform specific job-related duties at designated off-campus locations during campus emergencies.

Required Qualifications : Bachelor's degree in a related field and one year of related experience, or 5 years of direct experience.
