WDA Design Group
Overview
We are looking for a highly motivated, hands on Automation / Mechanical Engineer to support the design, optimization, and automation of manufacturing processes specific to twisted wire brush production. This role requires a blend of mechanical engineering skills and hands-on experience with automation systems to improve production efficiency, reduce downtime, and ensure consistent product quality. Key Responsibilities
Design, develop and optimize mechanical systems and equipment used in the production of twisted wire brushes. Automate manual processes including wire feeding, twisting and trimming using PLCs, sensors, and motion control systems. Work closely with operators and technicians to identify bottlenecks and develop mechanical or automated solutions. Integrate robotics and custom automation cells into existing production lines. Create and maintain CAD models and technical drawings for mechanical components and assemblies. Support the setup, commissioning, and troubleshooting of new machinery and automation solutions. Conduct feasibility studies and ROI analysis for automation projects. Collaborate with suppliers and vendors for custom machine design and component sourcing. Ensure all mechanical and automation designs comply with safety standards and quality requirements. Continuously monitor machine performance data to identify trends and implement improvements. Education
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automation Engineering, Mechatronics or a related field. Experience
2+ years of experience in mechanical design and/or automation within a manufacturing environment. Familiarity with twisted wire brush machinery or related forming/wire-processing equipment is a strong advantage. Experience with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Inventor, or AutoCAD). Hands-on experience with PLCs (e.g. Siemens, Allen-Bradley), pneumatic systems, and motion control. Knowledge of production line integration and process flow optimization. Skills
Strong problem solving-solving skills and troubleshooting ability. Excellent communication and project management skills. Proficiency in reading technical drawings and electrical schematics. Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced manufacturing setting. Location
