The Lead Aerospace Engineer will work with the Installation Aerodynamics team to perform aerodynamic design and optimization of inlets, nacelles, unducted propulsors, heat exchangers, and exhaust systems, as well as related aerodynamic components. In this role you will coordinate with internal and external stakeholders including airframers, global partners, leadership staff, and the broader installation aero team to provide aerodynamic performance assessments of aerodynamic engine components and commercial aviation propulsion systems.

Essential Responsibilities

As the Lead Aerospace Engineer, you will:

Lead, with guidance from senior engineering resources, aerodynamic analysis, design, test, and integration functions required to define and support assigned components, assemblies, and systems that meet business standards and program / product requirements

Perform computational fluid dynamics (CFD) analysis including geometry modification & meshing

Prepare and present technical information to internal and external customers

Use, develop, and test in-house engineering tools to perform aerodynamic evaluations

Set up and execute test programs achieving test objectives within schedule and budget guidelines

Document and communicate aero design, analysis, and test data results

Share engineering information, lessons learned, and promote open dialogue

Assure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures

Qualifications/Requirements

Master of Science degree from an accredited university or college in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering and 4 years of industry experience

PhD from an accredited university in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering with a CFD focus

Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening.

Desired Characteristics

Experience in engine or aircraft aerodynamic design, particularly unducted propulsion systems

Experience with CFD meshing, solving, and post-processing workflows

Demonstrated passion for the aviation industry

Ability to document, plan, and manage technical programs

Highly motivated with excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills

Proven teaming and collaboration capability

This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information.
