The individual will prepare design data for aircraft parts per FAA AC 21.303 through reverse engineering practices and coordination with internal and external teams. They will ensure that design features are consistent with functional performance and safety requirements for the aircraft or engine system installation and with standard manufacturing practices. They will also support the certification program to show compliance with FAA requirements. Work is project based and primarily autonomous with internal resources readily available when collaboration is needed.
Essential Responsibilities
Research and understand part function, operating conditions and failure modes and effects Draft solid models and inspection sketches for parts using SolidWorks Coordinate material analysis and performance testing Analyze dimensional and material results and make design decisions based off measured data, manufacturing capabilities, part function and failure modes Make drawing notes decisions including proper use of industry specifications Prepare production drawings using ANSI/ASME Y14.5 GD&T standards Provide engineering support for procurement, manufacturing, receiving (QA), and certification Manage technical content of design package until sellable inventory is in stock then support post-production engineering Experience and Skills
CAD/3D modeling design experience General knowledge of drafting standards and specifications Detail oriented, highly organized, and able to self-manage Ensure high quality with project-based work Experience with aircraft components and systems is strongly preferred Shop time, manufacturing or other hands-on experience is preferred Experience in reverse engineering is preferred Familiarity with aerospace and FAA specifications and processes preferred Proficiency with SolidWorks and MS Office applications preferred Education
Bachelor's degree in engineering OR as with 2 years of experience. Compensation & Benefits
