Sound Quality/Test Engineer

The position collaborates with Product Validation and Design Engineers to review designs, develop test plans, prepare instrumentation, execute tests, analyze results, and communicate results/recommendations back to Product Design teams. This position is an entry level position in the group, so a portion of the job is to support the experienced Sound Engineers by overseeing test set up and execution. The position will also be responsible for taking ownership of planning and delivering projects as capability is demonstrated. Physical work in bays and outdoors. Team works closely together. Work schedule driven by test schedule so there is typical some work hour flex.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Plan, set up, and execute test.
Analyze and report results.
Make recommendations for improvement.
Receive updates on machine availability from Machine Engineers, drive instrumentation set up and assist with troubleshooting as required.
Run tests with or without machine operators.
During planning and documentation stages, the day will include meetings with Design teams, most of which are teleconferences.
Post test analysis, reports, and recommendations are the critical end point of the work.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
4-7 years’ experience and Bachelor’s degree in engineering curriculum that included NVH/Acoustics introduction (Ag Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, etc.).
REQUIRED SKILLS
Good understanding of mechanical systems and system dynamics.
Knowledge of instrumentation like microphones, pressure transducers, accelerometers, etc. and how to apply them.
DESIRED SKILLS
Experience with troubleshooting and fixing mechanical systems.
Experience safely using hand tools to assemble/disassemble mechanical systems.
SOFT SKILLS REQUIRED
High initiative, good communication, and strong teamwork.
Ability to perform physical work (climb machines, turn wrenches, etc.).
