40.00 Join a Thriving Health System in Beautiful Northern Minnesota Sanford Health in Bemidji, MN is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to support our Infectious Disease services and help expand access to specialized care in our region. Job Summary The Nurse Practitioner (NP) provides expert clinical guidance in a specialized field and coordinates patient care quality initiatives in the field of Infectious Disease. Provides service to patients in acute, short and long term care settings by assisting physicians, assessing patients, and treating injuries and ailments. Obtains a thorough medical history from patient and, depending on patient population and setting, will perform an examination and/or assessment to determine patient needs. With other healthcare professionals, analyzes and interprets information to develop and establish appropriate diagnosis. Communicates care plans, rounds on patients when necessary, and collaborates with providers to deliver care. Formulates a plan for treatment and prescribes medications based on efficacy, safety, and cost as legally authorized if necessary. Maintains complete and detailed records; consults with or refers patients to appropriate specialists when conditions exceed scope of practice. Provides information to promote health, reduce risk, or prevent disease; counsels patients and families on self-management and prevention. May cover hospital consultations, rounding, and assist with procedures as needed. Conducts research to improve patient care and clinical outcomes and incorporates evidence-based practice guidelines. Maintains knowledge of regulatory processes for advanced practice providers, payer systems, and current state laws. Demonstrates extensive knowledge of medical principles, practices, and techniques. Qualifications Completion of a master's, post-master’s, or doctoral degree from a nurse practitioner program accredited by the Commission on the Collegiate of Nursing Education or National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission. Current licensure by the applicable state board of nursing for advanced practice. Current DEA permit to prescribe controlled substances. Current certification by the American Nurses Credentialing Center or an equivalent nationally recognized body. Ability to obtain and maintain required department-specific competencies and certifications. Experience or demonstrated competence in provision of care for an adequate patient volume in the past twelve months; relevant experience aligned with requested privileges.
