Restaurant Expeditor – Mainsail Lodging & Development

We’re looking for enthusiastic, fun, and energetic people who take the work seriously and bring energy to the team. The Expeditor will be responsible for maintaining the flow of orders from servers to kitchen, inspecting dishes for visual appeal, ensuring food is properly prepared and served in a timely fashion, assisting with finishing touches on dishes, and conducting quality control on each dish.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain verbal communication with chefs, check status of dishes, and call for staff when food is ready to serve.
  • Keep staff well informed of out‑of‑stock items and relay special food requests from serving staff to the kitchen.
  • Monitor portion and quality control of food portions and finished dishes, ensuring they adhere to Oxbow standards.
  • Inspect every plate to make sure proper garnishes have been applied and that plates are free of smudges and spills before delivering to the guest.
  • Maintain cleanliness and order in all cooking, prep, and food storage areas, keeping these areas neat, well organized, and stocked with ingredients.
  • Adhere to sanitation standards, ensuring all kitchen and serving staff follow sanitation standards and keep themselves, their tools, and their work areas clean and presentable.
  • Assist all staff as needed—cooking and prepping food, serving plates of food, and assisting with management tasks restaurant‑wide.
  • Address customer complaints as needed and find solutions that will satisfy the guest.
  • Perform other duties as management requests to service our guests.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent or higher.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in restaurant and/or hotel.
  • Previous culinary kitchen experience preferred.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to understand and communicate kitchen orders.
  • Ability to work efficiently and effectively, work long hours standing in one place, and work as a team in a stressful, fast‑paced environment.

Physical Demand

  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to use knives, kitchen machinery safely and effectively.
  • Ability to lift 20 lbs. or more when needed.
  • Long hours sometimes required.

  • Make sound judgments quickly and communicate effectively.
  • Work on multiple tasks, making appropriate progress toward deadlines.
  • Able to work independently, take direction, and provide direction to others.
  • Manage differing personalities within the kitchen, the hotel, and the community.

  • Ability to work effectively in stressful, high‑pressure situations.
