Capital One is seeking an energetic, self‑motivated Senior Auditor who is focused on the Discover Financial Services global payments network, platforms, technologies, and related operations (credit/debit processing, digital payments, acquiring, servicing domestic and abroad, settlement operations). The candidate should demonstrate knowledge of payments network operations and ecosystem risks, risk management, and regulatory expectations for a large financial institution. This role will be hired as a Capital One associate with a near‑term focus on audit execution and delivery for Discover Financial Services as part of our integration effort.

Responsibilities

Design and execute appropriate audit procedures to verify the effectiveness of internal controls.

Document auditee processes and procedures, review and analyze evidence, and identify potential issues.

Leverage available data and analytical tools during the planning and fieldwork phases of audit delivery.

Prepare clear, organized, and complete documentation to support work performed, including draft findings.

Establish and maintain good client and team relations during engagements and effectively communicate information and audit progress to team, clients, and auditor‑in‑charge.

Self‑prioritize and plan work activities, managing multiple priorities and tasks across the team to deliver quality results. Proactively take on additional work to support the team when possible.

Proactively seek out learning opportunities to enhance skills and competencies related to the role.

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent military experience.

At least 2 years of experience in auditing, accounting, financial analysis, compliance, or a combination thereof.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.

Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Public Accountant (CPA), or relevant certification.

1+ years of experience leading audits and performing in the role of auditor‑in‑charge.

1+ years of experience in banking or financial services.

1+ years of experience performing data analysis in support of internal auditing.

Other Important Details

This role is hybrid: associates typically spend about half their time (2–3 days per week) in‑person at one of our offices listed on the job posting. Monday and Friday are enterprise‑wide virtual work days. Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday are in‑person days.

The minimum and maximum full‑time annual salaries for this role are listed by location:

Charlotte, NC: $99,100 – $113,100

Chicago, IL: $99,100 – $113,100

McLean, VA: $109,000 – $124,400

New York, NY: $118,900 – $135,700

Plano, TX: $99,100 – $113,100

Richmond, VA: $99,100 – $113,100

Riverwoods, IL: $99,100 – $113,100

This role is also eligible to earn performance‑based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long‑term incentives (LTI).
