Position Overview As the Annuity Actuarial Finance Lead, you will be responsible for delivering Individual Annuity actuarial and finance results, and providing analysis and recommendations to drive our strategic objectives. You will join the Individual Annuity line in an exciting time! We are executing a strategic pivot—your efforts and expertise will drive insights into the earnings, capital, and other financial metrics, informing the future of the business.
We are looking for a strategic thought leader that combines their precision as an actuary with their perspective of a business leader to drive outcomes. This role is ideal for someone who sees the big picture and brings a business‑minded approach to actuarial insights.
This position is within Individual Solutions Finance team which supports individual life and annuities. The Finance team provides financial reporting, projections, and analysis to drive our business outcomes. This function is critical to fulfilling our purpose to our policyholders and to managing risk and financial results over the life of the business.
Responsibilities
Lead annuity financials
Lead analysis and explanation of key financial metrics for Individual Annuity quarterly and annual statements
Evaluate actual-to-expected experience on Individual Annuity interest, expense, and other margins
Collaborate with Valuation and Modeling centralized functions, and Financial Planning and Analysis function to support transparent, accurate, and unified financial calculations and reporting
Collaborate with Annuity Valuation and Product Development teams on the development and implementation of actuarial assumptions and in‑force management decisions
Lead Annuity results for our financial forecasting and goal‑setting cycle (Goals and Plans)
Lead the development of annuity financial projections and supporting narratives for the annual Goals and Plans efforts
Provide sensitivities, projections, and other analysis to identify drivers of results and understand emergence of financials under different scenarios
Support Annuity strategic objectives
Serve as subject‑matter expert on enterprise initiatives requiring individual annuity expertise
Communicate emerging trends to stakeholders and provide recommendations to drive results
Support ad hoc analysis for the Board, Executive Leadership, rating agencies, and other stakeholders
Collaborate with Product Development and other stakeholders on the monitoring and management supporting financial targets
Qualifications
Fellow of the Society of Actuaries designation (FSA) or equivalent credentials or experience
5+ years of annuity industry experience in finance, valuation, modeling, and/or product development
Experience with financial statements and the regulatory environment governing annuity products
Proven track record of analysis and critical thinking skills
Effective prioritization, project management and maximization of resources skills, including leading cross‑functional teams and external consultants, to solve high‑impact problems
Communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively explain concepts to both finance and non‑finance personnel
Proven ability to develop, maintain, and leverage relationships to effectively collaborate with and influence stakeholders
Ability to balance analytical rigor with practical execution to meet evolving business demands

If you’re in a commutable distance (90 minutes) you’ll join us 3 days each week in our offices to collaborate and build relationships. Compensation The estimated base pay range for this job is:
$105,000.00 – $196,000.00 . Pay may vary depending on job‑related factors and individual experience, skills, knowledge, etc. More information on base pay and incentive pay (if applicable) can be discussed with a member of the Securian Financial Talent Acquisition team.
