CGI Federal has an exciting opportunity for a Data Modeler within our Intel sector advancing the national security mission through cutting edge technology. You must have a passion for keeping pace with rapidly evolving technology advancements and leveraging your knowledge on a highly collaborative team to deliver state‑of‑the‑art capabilities.

The Data Modeler designs, creates, and maintains the structures of an organization's databases, ensuring data is organized, accessible, and usable for business needs. Key responsibilities include developing conceptual, logical, and physical data models, ensuring data integrity, optimizing performance, and collaborating with business analysts and developers to align data solutions with strategic goals.

This position is located in USA VA Arlington, however, a hybrid working model is acceptable.

Key Responsibilities

Data Model Design: Create conceptual, logical, and physical data models that represent business requirements and serve as blueprints for database implementation.

Data Architecture: Design and oversee the expansion of data architecture across different platforms, including relational and NoSQL databases, data lakes, and data warehouses.

Collaboration: Work closely with business analysts, data analysts, database administrators, and developers to understand data needs and implement data strategies.

Data Integrity & Quality: Implement standards for data management, ensure data accuracy, and conduct quality assurance to maintain consistency.

Performance Optimization: Tune database performance, optimize data query efficiency, and identify and resolve data issues.

Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation, including data models, metadata, data dictionaries, and data flows.

Tool Proficiency: Utilize data modeling software and tools for design, analysis, and implementation.

Required Qualifications SME

Education and/or Experience: Bachelor’s degree and/or 10+ years of experience.

Security Clearance: TS/SCI required with the ability to obtain a TS/SCI with Poly highly desired.

Data Modeling: Expertise in creating different levels of data models.

SQL: Proficient in writing complex SQL queries for data access and manipulation.

Database Technologies: Experience with relational (SQL) and NoSQL databases.

Data Modeling Tools: Familiarity with tools like ERWin and Power Designer.

Problem‑Solving: Ability to analyse complex business needs and translate them into structured data solutions.

Abstract Thinking: Capacity for abstract thought and creative, solution‑based thinking.

Business Acumen: Understanding of business processes and how data supports them.

Communication: Strong verbal communication skills for effective collaboration.

Senior

Education and/or Experience: Bachelor’s degree and/or 5 to 10 years of experience.

Security Clearance: TS/SCI required with the ability to obtain a TS/SCI with Poly highly desired.

Data Modeling: Expertise in creating different levels of data models.

SQL: Proficient in writing complex SQL queries for data access and manipulation.

Database Technologies: Experience with relational (SQL) and NoSQL databases.

Data Modeling Tools: Familiarity with tools like ERWin and Power Designer.

Problem‑Solving: Ability to analyse complex business needs and translate them into structured data solutions.

Abstract Thinking: Capacity for abstract thought and creative, solution‑based thinking.

Business Acumen: Understanding of business processes and how data supports them.

Journeyman

Education and/or Experience: Bachelor’s degree and/or 2 to 5 years of experience.

Security Clearance: TS/SCI required with the ability to obtain a TS/SCI with Poly highly desired.

Data Modeling: Expertise in creating different levels of data models.

SQL: Proficient in writing complex SQL queries for data access and manipulation.

Database Technologies: Experience with relational (SQL) and NoSQL databases.

Data Modeling Tools: Familiarity with tools like ERWin and Power Designer.

Problem‑Solving: Ability to analyse complex business needs and translate them into structured data solutions.

Abstract Thinking: Capacity for abstract thought and creative, solution‑based thinking.

Business Acumen: Understanding of business processes and how data supports them.

Communication: Strong verbal communication skills for effective collaboration.

Compensation A reasonable estimate for this role in the U.S. is $100,000.00 - $200,000.00.
