is partnering with a general contractor in the Baltimore region seeking a Safety Director to lead their company-wide safety program and culture. Reporting to the COO, this role serves as the senior authority on safety—setting strategy, ensuring compliance, and driving accountability across all projects.
This position blends strategic leadership with hands‑on field oversight: developing and implementing best‑in‑class safety programs while managing training, inspections, audits, certifications, and risk mitigation. The Safety Director also oversees third‑party safety professionals when engaged, ensuring all efforts align with company standards and culture.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the company’s safety vision, culture, and accountability across all projects
Ensure compliance with OSHA, federal, state, local, and client safety requirements
Oversee training programs, certifications, inspections, audits, and incident investigations
Track and maintain required safety logs and reports (OSHA, client, internal)
Partner with Project Managers, Superintendents, and Subcontractors to proactively identify and resolve safety issues on‑site.
Provide oversight of third‑party safety professionals when engaged
Qualifications:
7–10 years of construction safety experience, including 3–5 years in a leadership role with a self‑performing GC or specialty contractor
OSHA 500 required; CHST or CSP strongly preferred
Proven ability to lead cultural change and engage field teams
Strong technical knowledge of safety regulations with experience applying them in the field
Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Construction Management, or related field preferred; excellent communication skills
