Mobility Engineering Lead – BAE Systems, Inc. Join BAE Systems’ Combat Vehicles team to develop vehicles and products that protect the lives of those that serve. We are seeking a driven Mobility Engineering Lead who will lead the successful development, integration, and test validation of subsystems such as diesel engine, transmission, final drive, exhaust, air filtration, cooling system components, track system, driver’s controls, and suspension.

What You Will Do The Mobility Engineering Lead will manage a team of designers and engineers to solve production and test issues, including Engineering Support In Production (ESIP), investigate test incident reports (TIR), close Failure Analysis and Corrective Action Reports (FACARs), track production part procurement, audit production work instructions, research Vendor Information Requests (VIR), process Technical Data Package (TDP) changes, and coordinate cross‑program part updates and vendor software synchronization.

The Lead will also provide onsite support at BAE Systems production sites and U.S. Government test sites, support First Article Test (FAT) activities, and serve as subject matter expert for technical manual reviews, specialty tool reviews, and level of repair analysis.

Responsibilities

Manage engineering design, development, analysis, test, and/or product assurance of all assigned projects to meet cost, quality, performance, and schedule requirements.

Develop, implement, and manage project plans, define detailed tasks, allocate resources, monitor schedules, ensure quality, control costs, mitigate risks, and report technical, cost, and schedule status.

Resolve conflicts between subsystems or disciplines to improve system performance, quality, and reliability.

Coordinate and lead teams of 2–10 engineers, design staff, and analysts.

Track risks and opportunities.

Prepare and present technical results and recommendations to customers.

Lead technical analysis, testing, calculations, and evaluation of results to solve complex engineering problems using specialized equipment or computer models.

Prepare technical and cost portions of proposals related to expertise area.

Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of relevant engineering disciplines, industry practices, trends, and applications; advise senior management on new developments.

Ensure a safe work environment and compliance with company and program safety objectives.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical discipline plus 6 years of relevant experience; or a Master’s degree and 4 years of relevant experience; or a PhD and 2 years of experience.

Experience leading engineering teams.

Experience in the design and integration of mobility systems such as diesel engines, transmissions, final drives, driveline hardware, exhaust, air filtration, cooling system components, hydrostatic drives, tracks, and suspension.

Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with customers and suppliers.

Ability to review, interpret, and direct mobility or automotive performance analysis.

Ability to identify, define, interpret, and resolve engineering problems involving conflicting design, contractual, policy, or technical requirements across functional areas.

Demonstrated ability to prepare technical reports, papers, and presentations and deliver them in written and oral form to customers, industry leaders, and senior management.

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

Experience with design of combat vehicles.

Basic working knowledge of the CREO CAD software tool.

Earned Value Management Systems (EVMS) experience.

Prior experience resolving complex inter‑subsystem production issues.

Working knowledge of relevant military and commercial design and drawing standards.

Prior experience with automotive or military cooling system analysis and sizing.

Prior experience leading complex structured trade studies for mobility components.

Benefits & Compensation Full‑time salary range: $115,779 – $196,825. Salary determined by experience, qualifications, and market conditions.
