Insurance Placement Specialist
USI Insurance Services – a leading global insurance brokerage and consulting firm.
General Description This position is responsible for independently managing the marketing-placement of new small‑business account opportunities with partner insurance carriers. You will provide support to Select Commercial producers by negotiating carrier coverages and terms, preparing proposals, and finalizing the placement/binding process.
Responsibilities
Establish and maintain relationships with the production team and producers to obtain pertinent information and quotations.
Maintain strong relationships with carrier partners.
Serve as a source of knowledge on appetite, market trends, pricing practices, contacts, and underwriting policies.
Participate in carrier meetings and share information with Select operations and sales.
Negotiate and sell opportunities to carrier partners, quote online via carrier rating tools or submit to underwriter, collaborating with the Team Lead when necessary.
Prepare marketing summaries outlining terms, rates, commissions, bind order documents, and carrier responses including reasons for declination.
Bind coverage with underwriters and finalize the marketing process.
Maintain complete and accurate documentation in agency management systems and marketing files for each account.
Perform essential functions while meeting service standards and best practices developed by USI.
Execute additional projects and duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
3‑7 years of experience in Commercial Property & Casualty and comprehensive understanding of all coverages, placement, underwriting, and rating concepts.
College degree and preferred insurance designations (CIC, ARM, AAI, CPCU).
Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment with minimal instruction, strong business acumen, and high frequency of tasks.
Sales‑driven and solution‑oriented to meet production and growth goals.
Creative and proactive problem‑solving and negotiation skills.
Strong prioritization and workflow management ensuring efficient, timely, and accurate work.
Current knowledge of industry, new products, legislation, coverages, and technology to continuously improve performance.
Proficient with an agency management system and understanding of underwriting, sales, and service processes.
Proficiency in Word and Excel.
Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
Must hold a state Property & Casualty insurance license.
Ability to maintain cordial relationships with production teams, carriers, vendors, and other business contacts.
