The Area Chief Engineer is responsible for all building and grounds maintenance and renovation, along with the management and supervision of the maintenance team. Also responsible for safety and security within the building and grounds.

Essential Functions: Conduct daily property walk-throughs and visually assess the safe and efficient maintenance and operation of the hotel's physical structure(s), all mechanical, electrical, HVAC systems, and other related equipment. Arrange plans for repairs of issues discovered.
Verify completion of all routine maintenance on public spaces, meeting rooms, ballrooms, outlets, back-of-the-house spaces, and grounds. Verify completion of all repairs, replacement, and renovation projects to offices and employee work areas.
Select, train, develop, supervise, and discipline department staff and all other staff under the direction of the Engineering Department. Perform annual reviews on the team.
Adhere to all corporate-required purchasing policies and controls, including, but not limited to, all outside contractor bids, budgets, and schedules.
Follow the prescribed safety procedures for personnel and equipment by the company and OSHA.
Maintain effective Energy Management and Preventive Maintenance programs and conduct special training for other operating departments on the safe and efficient use of equipment and energy in the hotel.
Inform General Manager and hotel department heads regularly regarding the specific and overall condition of the building structure(s), related systems, and equipment, offering prudent, cost-effective proposals for maintaining these systems.
Prepare departmental work schedules, edit punches, process payroll, and live within a budget
Obtain bids for cap-ex projects
Prepare annual budgets and manage a departmental checkbook
Prepare weekly, monthly, semi-annual, and annual brand-required reports. Maintain input of information in Service Pro.
Take equipment readings and samples to ensure all systems are operating correctly
Take action to repair issues discovered
Train the team in making repairs throughout the building to various systems
Perform general repairs and maintenance as required
Must have FLSD Certified License
Preferably carry a Q-01 license
Education and Experience: Five years of experience in a hotel setting is required.
Requires advanced knowledge of the practices related to building and grounds maintenance.
High School education or equivalent experience. Trade school experience preferred.
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
Ability to repair and maintain various pieces of building and grounds equipment. Ability to train others in these same repairs.
Ability to operate mechanical equipment and various tools.
Ability to present technical information that requires approval.
# Supervised: Five plus employees.
Travel: Minimal local travel.
Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and memos.
Ability to write professional correspondence.
Ability to effectively present to customers, clients, and others.
