Job Description The Department of Pediatrics at the University of South Florida seeks an Advanced Practitioner Registered Nurse or Physician’s Assistant who will work autonomously within a clinical team caring for children and young people. The faculty member will provide comprehensive clinical care, including assessment, diagnosis, and management of patients, and will perform a range of clinical actions for both outpatient clinics and the well‑baby nursery. Newborn nursery weekends are covered primarily, with a schedule of one weekend out of six (Saturday and Sunday).

Responsibilities

Provide professional nurse practitioner or physician assistant care according to established standards, practices, and protocols, including initial assessment of patient condition with history and physical examination.

Maintain quality assurance projects and participate in educational sessions for clinical staff.

Attend scheduled organizational sessions and provide clinical support during required teaching activities.

Complete any other duties as assigned by the Chair.

Preferred: Experience as an Advanced Practice Provider in family medicine or pediatrics.

Qualifications

Master’s or Medical degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate field of specialization, or equivalent qualifications based on professional experience.

Must meet university criteria for appointment to the rank of Instructor.

Board‑eligible Advanced Practice Registered Nurse or Physician Assistant—certification required as outlined in Florida Statutes 464 and 458/459 and Florida Administrative Code, Chapter 64.

May be subject to a Level 1 or Level 2 criminal background check.
