General Merchandise Overview
Experts of operations, process and efficiency who enable a consistent experience for our guests by ensuring product is merchandised, available, accurately priced and signed on the sales floor. The General Merchandise and Food Sales team leads inbound, outbound, replenishment, and promotional signing processes for all General Merchandise areas of the store. This team leads Food & Beverage and Food Service, providing a fresh and food-safe experience. Experts enable efficient delivery to our guests by owning pick, pack and ship fulfillment work.
The Inbound team is expert at unloading trailer deliveries and preparing merchandise to be stocked on the sales floor.
Role: Inbound Operations Team Leader

Guest service fundamentals and experience building a guest-first culture on your team.
Retail business fundamentals including department sales trends, inventory management, guest shopping patterns, pricing and promotions strategies.
Planning department (s) daily/weekly workload to support business priorities and deliver sales goals.
Leading a team of hourly team members, including skills in interviewing, developing, coaching, evaluating and retaining talent.
As an Inbound Operations Team Leader, no two days are the same. A typical day will include the following responsibilities:
Understanding sales goals and executing daily/weekly workload to deliver on department and store sales goals and guest engagement.
Leading and sharing expertise in operations, accuracy and efficiency.
Establishing clear goals and expectations with guidance from your direct leader and holding team members accountable.
Utilizing workload planning tools to complete all scheduled workload and ensure areas are guest-ready at store open.
Assigning daily tasks to team members based on planned workload and guest traffic patterns, aligned with weekly and monthly business priorities.
Working a schedule that aligns to guest and business needs (early morning, evening, overnight shifts, and weekends).
Assessing GM backroom and sales floor areas and reviewing reporting to identify gaps and resolve issues.
Enabling a consistent guest experience by ensuring products are available for purchase.
Assist your direct leader in leading and following up on organizational and operational change.
Build a GM expert team from initial selection through onboarding and learning. Develop team members through ongoing training and feedback.
Demonstrate inclusivity and ethical conduct; model a safety culture, identify hazards, and ensure safety expectations are followed. Manage incident response and reporting where applicable.
Model security processes and support merchandise protection strategies across the total store.
Address store and offsite emergency and compliance needs. Support guest services such as back-up cashier, order pickup and Drive Up, while maintaining compliance culture including laws related to adult beverages where applicable.
Demonstrate a welcoming guest experience and engage with guests to solve needs. Lead by thanking guests and showing appreciation for shopping at Target.
Perform other duties based on business needs.
