Senior Business Analyst – Consumer Identity
The Consumer Identity team is looking for a Sr. Business Analyst for the Strategy and Analytics team to help us in our mission to protect our customers' identities from fraud and to help Capital One in its push to put customer‑centric analysis at the center of how we operate.
Your role will be to help drive the strategy and analytics that we leverage in optimizing fraud prevention. You will partner with Product Managers, Engineering, Design and many others to deliver on one of the most critical dimensions of how Capital One defends the company and its customers against fraud.
Key Responsibilities
Determining the impact of new Identity tools, optimizing policy, and setting a strategic roadmap in partnership with our platform teams for the next generation of Identity defenses.
Analyzing, responding to and mitigating fraud attacks in partnership with Lines of Business across the company to ensure our defenses keep pace with our attackers.
Establishing our Credit Risk management infrastructure foundations.
Creating frameworks to assess our platforms existing customer experiences and interactions with customers to identify leverage points in reducing friction and driving customer satisfaction.
Exploring opportunities to leverage customer‑level data (i.e. cross‑LOB behavioral) for fraud and other high‑leverage use cases.
Analysis: Identify business challenges and opportunities for improvement and solve for them using analysis to make strategic or tactical recommendations.
Product: Perform modeling/analytics to assist new product and pricing strategies for various lending products.
Marketing: Support direct‑to‑consumer marketing efforts for select products, assisting in the design and development of new customer experiences and breakthrough technology.
Credit Risk: Support step‑change improvements in credit performance by connecting drivers of consumer credit trends to historical behavior, creating risk models and testing hypotheses using rigorous monitoring.
Execution: Involve problem‑frame frameworks, develop hypotheses, test and analyze, develop solutions, scope operational feasibility, lead implementation efforts and develop a monitoring plan.
Partnership: Work closely with colleagues across Capital One including IT, Sales, Operations, Finance and others to drive improvement in quality, volume, service and profitability.
Strategic & analytic orientation: Demonstrate a proven track record of decision‑making and problem‑solving based on analytics with strong quantitative and conceptual thinking skills.
Strong business judgment, leadership and integrity: Bring an aggressive yet responsible approach to business.
Strong communication skills: Impeccable written and oral communication credentials, coupled with strategic influencing skills and the ability to drive agreement through intellect, interpersonal and negotiation skills.
Clear results orientation: Display an intense focus on achieving both short and long‑term goals, driving and executing an agenda in an uncertain and fluid environment.
Successful track record of thriving in a fast‑paced, entrepreneurial and dynamic environment. Previous consulting experience is a plus.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in any quantitative field (Business, Math, Economics, Finance, Statistics, Science, Engineering).
At least 1 year of experience in analysis.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's Degree in Business or a quantitative field such as Finance, Economics, Physical Sciences, Math, Statistics, Engineering.
1+ years of experience in statistical model building.
1+ years of experience in market research.
1+ years of experience in SQL querying.
2+ years of experience in business analysis.
1+ years of experience in consulting.

Salaries and Compensation
Chicago, IL: $99,100 – $113,100 for Sr. Business Analyst
McLean, VA: $109,000 – $124,400 for Sr. Business Analyst
This role is also eligible to earn performance‑based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long‑term incentives (LTI).
