Supplier Industrialization Engineer, PCB What To Expect The PCB Supplier Industrialization Engineer is the subject matter expert on PCB manufacturing processes and fabrication rulesets and will also be primary point of contact for supplier audits, qualifications, and supplier selections for all PCBs in Tesla’s electronics portfolio.

What You’ll Do

Support with Design for Manufacturing (DFM) based on PCB supplier fabrication limitations and guide Design Engineers to optimize PCB layouts

Define and maintain PCB specifications, criteria, and reliability standards to improve supplier performance for incumbent and new PCB suppliers

Review and define APQP/PPAP requirements as the primary owner and approver of tier 2 PCB suppliers

Conduct PCB supplier audits and support with the development of additional audit criteria to assess suppliers to meet Tesla’s high standard of quality

Drive PCB suppliers on quality issues and field escalations based on root cause analysis and corrective actions

Owner of RFQs and contract management - ensure Non-Disclosure Agreements, General Terms & Conditions, Piece Price Agreements, and other related contracts are negotiated, agreed and appropriately documented before business is initiated

Drive negotiation for piece price and product development to ensure that Tesla’s pricing meets best-landed-cost expectations as well as Supplier Industrialization standards of Best‑In‑Class quality

Participate in cost reduction initiatives by exploring and suggesting process, materials, design and new technologies

What You’ll Bring

Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical Engineering or equivalent experience

5+ years of hands‑on experience with PCB manufacturing or industrializing and managing PCB suppliers

Subject Matter Expert on Rigid, Flex, Rigid‑Flex, HDI, and/or IC Substrate Fabrication

Familiarity with quality tools such as APQP, PPAP, SPC, RCCA, and related methods like control charts and Pareto analysis

Strong knowledge and understanding of industry specifications and standards especially IPC and JEDEC

Experienced with optimizing PCB panel design, and material vs cost vs capacity

Strong understanding of drilling, etching, masking, plating, lamination, surface coating, and testing

Solid technical knowledge of the PCB Assembly manufacturing process

International travel is required to engage with manufacturing partners, sometimes on short notice

Excellent spoken and written English

Expected Compensation $85,760 – $197,160 annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits. Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job‑related knowledge, skills, and experience.
