Floor Care Technician – Tufts Medicine
Job Overview Under general supervision performs project duties of floor refinishing, rug and upholstery shampooing, and wall washing.
Minimum Qualifications
Three (3) months of housekeeping experience.
Duties and Responsibilities
Remove top layers of wax from floor using a roto machine with appropriate chemicals and tools.
Shampoo and spot clean carpets using a roto machine, appropriate chemicals, and tools.
Wash walls on a regular basis using appropriate chemicals and tools.
Change cubicle curtains and drapes in patient areas and offices.
Clean and disinfect walls, floors, furniture, and cubicles following departmental procedures for precautionary cleaning.
Move furniture and equipment such as beds and tables when performing cleaning duties.
Complete project work forms indicating time, location, and project details.
Physical Requirements
Work in patient areas, offices, and public areas performing project work duties with occasional contact with patients, visitors, and staff.
Frequent exposure to dust, dirt, blood, bodily waste, harsh chemicals, and contaminated waste.
Possibility of cuts, needle punctures, and muscle strains.
Occasional exposure to hazards that may cause serious injury or illness (e.g., broken bones, infectious disease).
Stand or walk for the majority of the shift.
Work in reaching, strained, and kneeling positions for part of the shift.
Lift and carry heavy supplies, equipment, and furniture up to 80 lbs during part of the shift.
On‑the‑job training may be provided.
Skills & Abilities
Count, read simple instructions, write, and speak basic English.
Operate simple mechanical devices such as floor rotos, vacuums, and compactors.
Familiarity with operation of heavy‑duty, electric cleaning equipment.
Interact with hospital staff, visitors, and patients in a friendly, cooperative manner.
Pay Range $17.00 - $20.02
