Job Description
This role is responsible for management of the administrative requirements for the department, including personnel management, training management, and project management. The position directly supervises the activities of technical personnel consisting of a mix of exempt and nonexempt employees.
Responsibilities
Supervises the day‑to‑day activities of exempt and nonexempt technical personnel, provides leadership for the organization, and sets direction for all direct reports.
Responsible for all facets of the Talent Management System (setting goals, growth plans, performance feedback, and performance assessments) for all direct reports.
Develops and maintains department training curricula for each direct report; ensures that direct reports complete required training to maintain compliance with job duties and responsibilities.
Maintains adherence to cGMP requirements (training, documentation, procedures, etc.) for the department.
Supports the department manager in the development of budgets and assists with monthly financial tracking; develops Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for the organization, tracks data related to KPIs, and drives improvement initiatives across the organization.
Ensures compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal regulatory requirements, including OSHA Process Safety Management (PSM) standard (29 CFR 1910.119) and EPA Risk Management Planning (RMP) rule (40 CFR 68), Mechanical Integrity programs, PCI, DOT, EPA, etc.
Serves as a project manager for department initiatives and capital projects; leads members of the organization in the development of the budget, scope, and schedule for major projects.
Acts as the conduit for communication within the department to ensure that leadership messages, organizational changes, and initiatives are communicated to direct reports, and also conveys communication from direct reports back up to the area management.
Acts as the face of the organization to internal and external customers to ensure communication and customer focus.
Creates a safety culture by setting direction to reduce or eliminate operations‑related injuries or accidents, damage/loss of product or equipment, and unnecessary costs by ensuring that all equipment and facilities are maintained consistent with the safety, security, hygiene, and standards set by AbbVie.
Qualifications
College degree strongly desired; strong problem‑solving and analysis skills required. Technical degree (engineering or science) preferred.
At least 5 + years of prior experience in manufacturing, engineering, maintenance, facilities management, or an equivalent technical field; extensive experience within a GMP environment required.
Prior supervision experience required; experience leading leaders preferred.
Knowledge of basic regulatory requirements.
Calibration/Metrology experience required.
Knowledge of CMMS, BMS, EMS systems required.
