Job Description The Human Resource Manager will lead and direct the routine functions of the Human Resources department, including the development, implementation, and coordination of policies and programs covering employment, wage and salary management, organization development, training, safety and health, benefits, and employee services.

Responsibilities

Partners with the leadership team to understand and execute the organization's human resource and talent strategy, including current and future talent needs, recruiting, retention, and succession planning.

Manages the talent acquisition process, including recruitment, interviewing, and hiring of qualified candidates for managerial, exempt, and professional roles; collaborates with departmental managers to understand required skills and competencies. Recruits, interviews, hires, and trains new staff in the department.

Monthly reporting of HR KPIs: absenteeism, turnover, training, retention, personal hours, headcount, attendance tracker.

Develops and administers the departmental budget.

Reviews and approves payroll.

Analyzes trends in compensation and benefits; researches and proposes competitive base and incentive pay programs.

Conducts internal and market compensation analyses to determine target wages/salaries.

Coordinates temporary agencies to assure staffing and cost needs.

Coordinates the annual increase process.

Develops the training strategy, creating learning and development programs and initiatives.

Plans and conducts new employee orientation.

Delivers new hire orientations and ensures all new hire paperwork is completed and filed.

Oversees employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.

Establishes fair and consistent employee relations policies supporting company culture and vision; maintains a harassment‑free environment.

Responsible for termination and discharge of any Amcor employee and oversees unemployment hearings for the Syracuse plant.

Oversees employee relations, including conflict resolution, counseling, and disciplinary actions.

Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.

Stays updated on trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in HR and employment law.

Provides guidance to HR generalists, management, and staff on complex issues.

Coordinates with EH&S Manager on local plant safety issues, resolving on‑the‑job injuries.

Coordinated birthday recognition campaigns with selected vendors.

Organized company events (holiday parties, potlucks, monthly engagement activities, picnics).

Coordinated annual and quarterly recognition programs (Diamond Employees).

Coordinated seniority recognition program.

Counsels management on actions regarding employee performance and misconduct, and creates disciplinary warnings.

Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations.

Supports and maintains all policies of the company including SQF/BRC Standards, Health and Safety Requirements, Continuous Improvement, and standard work procedures.

Ensures training needs are resourced, implemented, and meet system element requirements; ensures personnel competency.

Ensures integrity and continued operation of the food safety system during personnel or organizational changes.

Informs certification body of blackout periods that prevent unannounced audits; submits blackout dates at least one month before the 60‑day re‑certification window.

Training period

will consist of a minimum of 1 month.

Qualifications

Supervisory responsibility for administrative staff.

B.S. Degree in Human Resources or equivalent with a minimum of five years of experience in a manufacturing environment.

PHR/SHRM‑CP or equivalent preferred.

Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and memos; to write policies and procedures; to present information in one‑on‑one, small and large group settings.

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability, statistical inference, financial data, fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions.

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions in written, oral, or diagram form; to solve problems in varying situations.

Physical demands: ability to sit and talk or hear regularly while performing duties.
