Responsibilities

Partners with the leadership team to understand and execute the organization's human resource and talent strategy, particularly relating to current and future talent needs, recruiting, retention, and succession planning.

Manages the talent acquisition process, including recruitment, interviewing, and hiring of qualified job applicants (managerial, exempt, and professional roles); collaborates with departmental managers to understand required skills and competencies; recruits, interviews, hires, and trains new staff in the department.

Monthly reporting of HR KPIs (absenteeism, turnover, training, retention, personal hours, headcount, attendance tracker).

Develops and administers the departmental budget.

Compensation

Reviews and approves payroll.

Analyzes compensation and benefits trends; researches and proposes competitive base and incentive pay programs to attract and retain top talent.

Performs internal and market compensation analyses to determine target wages and competitive rates.

Coordinates with temp agencies to manage staffing and costs; coordinates annual increase process.

Develops training strategy and programs for internal development; plans and conducts new employee orientation.

Delivers new hire orientations and ensures completion and filing of all new hire paperwork.

Compliance

Oversees employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.

Maintains fair and consistent employee relations policies; supports our culture and vision.

Responsible for termination and discharge of employees and oversee unemployment hearings.

Oversees employee relations, conflict resolution, counseling and disciplinary actions.

Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and reviews policies to stay compliant.

Keeps knowledge of HR trends, regulatory changes, and best practices; provides guidance to HR staff.

Supports generic HR guidance and may administer routine tasks in sensitive circumstances, including accommodations and terminations.

Assists EH&S Manager in reviewing local plant safety issues and resolving on-the-job injury issues.

Employee Engagement

Coordinate employee recognition programs and organize company events and engagement activities.

Coordinate annual and quarterly recognition programs and seniority recognition programs.

Support performance management processes and provide guidance on performance-related actions.

Qualifications

BS Degree in Human Resources or equivalent with a minimum of five (5) years' experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.

Three (3) years of union experience required.

Certification

PHR/SHRM-CP or equivalent preferred.
