Overview
The post-holder will support the Beechwood Medical Centre team by handling telephone communications and performing a range of administrative duties to keep the general practice running smoothly. Prior experience in general practice or primary care is useful but not essential, as on‑the‑job training will be provided. Key Responsibilities
Carry out administrative duties in a busy office environment. Answer inbound telephone calls and liaise with patients. Book, change and cancel patient appointments in line with current arrangements. Handle prescription requests, patient registrations, signposting and other tasks as required by the Practice Operations Manager, Business Manager or Partners. Collaborate with other team members; support with scanning, coding, referrals and general office duties. Hours & Schedule
Monday: 08:00‑12:00 Tuesday: 15:00‑18:30 Thursday: 15:00‑18:30 Friday: 08:00‑11:30 Total weekly hours: 18.0. Candidates must be able to work these hours; a small degree of flexibility may be required. Qualifications
Educated to GCSE level or equivalent. IT or admin qualification at NVQ level III or above. RSA level II or equivalent. Experience
Experience working with the general public. Experience in a healthcare setting. Experience working with vulnerable people. Experience in general practice/primary care. Skills
Excellent written and oral communication skills. Clear, polite telephone manner. Effective time‑management and organisational skills. Team‑player with ability to work independently. Excellent interpersonal skills. Problem‑solving and analytical abilities. Ability to follow policy and procedure. Competent in Microsoft Office and Outlook. Polite, confident, flexible and cooperative. Motivated, forward‑thinking, with high integrity and loyalty. Ability to work under pressure. Other Requirements
