The post-holder will be working with the rest of the team at Beechwood Medical Centre. You will answer the telephone and liaise with patients mainly over the phone. The main role of the position is to deal with all of the administrative duties associated with General Practice. The hours are quite specific in order to cover the site for all of the hours we are open. If you have worked in general practice or primary care before that would be useful but it is not essential all of the training will be given.

Main duties of the job The following are the core responsibilities of the Administrator and Office Clerk. There may be, on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks; this will depend on factors such as workload and staffing levels as directed by the Practice Operations Manager:

Carry out administrative duties associated with working in a busy office environment.

Use the telephone to call patients and take inbound calls from patients in the admin office.

Book, change and cancel appointments for patients in line with current arrangements.

Deal with things, like prescription requests, patient registrations, patient signposting and carrying out duties as requested by the Practice Operations Manager, Business Manager or Partners.

Work with other team members and support the practice operationally. This may include things like scanning, coding, referrals and general office duties.

The hours for this role are very specific in order to cover the surgery for the hours we are open:

Monday – 8:00 am – 12:00 pm

Tuesday – 3:00 pm – 6:30 pm

Thursday – 3:00 pm – 6:30 pm

Friday – 8:00 am – 11:30 am

Total weekly hours – 18.0

You MUST be able to work these hours, although we will have a small degree of flexibility.

Qualifications

Educated to GCSE level or equivalent

IT or admin qualification at NVQ level III or above

RSA level II or equivalent

Experience

Experience of working with the general public
