Job Description Purpose and Scope

Under general/limited supervision of the Division Operations Manager, this position is responsible for the part-time management of a Fitness Center on campus.

Essential Job Functions

Supervises, hires, trains and schedules Fitness Center employees

Responsible for equipment inventory, inspection and maintenance of fitness center and exercise science department equipment

Maintains a sanitary, safe and orderly work environment

Monitors and controls resources

Provides basic equipment instruction and fitness information as needed

Implements effective operations and ensures rules and regulations are enforced

Provides basic first aid if necessary

Reports and resolves complaints

Coordinates events including but not limited to marketing, scheduling, and organizing activities with the Recreational Sports Manager, Exercise Science Department and the Wellness Committee as related to the fitness center facility

Provide excellent customer service

Responsible for other reasonable related duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Ability to cooperate and work well with other staff members

Must have good communication skills

Have basic knowledge of fitness equipment and exercise

Physical Abilities

Must be able to lift objects weighing up to 50 lbs. There may be some walking; standing; bending; pushing or pulling carts, and reaching and grasping objects.

Work Schedule and Conditions

Equipment used includes, PC workstation running on a LAN in a Microsoft Windows environment, calculator, phone and other general office equipment

Interface with internal and external contacts as needed to carry out the functions of the position

Work is performed in a climate-controlled office with minimal exposure to safety hazards

Required Qualifications

High school diploma or GED equivalent and at least 1 year of related work experience

CPR/First-aid certified, or ability to become certified within first 30 days after being hired

Preferred Qualifications

Certified Instructor/Trainer or Bachelors degree in Kinesiology or other fitness/health related areas

Salary

Hourly Pay Rate is $17.58
