Performs protective, law enforcement and security services in an effort to protect the safety and security of patients, visitors, teammates, and property. Investigates criminal acts on hospital grounds, makes arrests, protects life and property, patrols hospital buildings and grounds and prevents theft and vandalism. Acts as first responder to any imminent threat to life or safety. What You'll Need

Basic law enforcement training Required General law enforcement certification per North Carolina Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards or ability to transfer certification from another jurisdiction. What You’ll Do

Appropriately and effectively intervenes when unruly, abusive, combative, threatening, or armed persons are encountered. Apprehend and arrest individuals for criminal activity. Complete investigations of any criminal activity occurring within assigned jurisdiction, make arrests, and process criminal defendants as per NC criminal proceedings. Respond to routine and emergency calls for assistance. Complete uniform incident reports and other assigned documentation. Communicate in a calm, factual, objective, and courteous manner with all persons with whom communication or collaboration are necessary. Coordinate and communicate with community police agencies as appropriate. Provide armed response to any imminent situation that threatens the life or safety of anyone on Atrium Health property. Assist teammates with and serve as subject matter expert in criminal process. Prepare criminal cases for court proceedings, attend court, and testify in criminal proceedings. Our Commitment to You
