IRE Program Coordinator
– Investigative Reporters and Editors
IRE is seeking a detail-oriented professional to manage and oversee various programs and initiatives within the organization.
Job Description This position is responsible for organizing and implementing a series of fellowship/scholarship programs three times a year for Investigative Reporters and Editors, a nonprofit organization affiliated with the Missouri School of Journalism, and for organizing and overseeing logistics of IRE's annual contests of the best investigative journalism of the year on a global scale. This position also handles elections of IRE Board members once a year and is responsible for the logistics of the forward-facing part of IRE's website.
Key Responsibilities
Coordinate and manage 15-plus fellowship programs, including establishing deadlines, working with the director of marketing to promote applications; organizing and supervising the selection process, communicating with winners and non-winners; working with the director of member services and finance officer to fulfill benefits; keeping track of recipients' progress; providing regular reports for the executive director.
Coordinate and manage IRE's annual signature contest with more than 500 entries, including working with the director of marketing to promote entries and announce winners, overseeing the contest-entry process, resolving issues, securing screeners, and working with the Contest Committee on process and logistics during judging; communicate with winners, assist in organizing the award ceremony and arranging winner participation in events. Also oversee other award contests, working with committees and the director of marketing to set deadlines, promote and process applications, communicate with winners, announce winners, and coordinate award ceremonies.
Maintain IRE website resources, including creating event listings, posting and overseeing job listings, managing online ads, keeping pages updated (removing expired content promptly and adding new content).
Oversee resource collections, including contest entries, tipsheets, conference and workshop audio and video, gathering, processing, posting and archiving content. Also involve digitizing past archives as time allows.
Coordinate board elections, including working with the Director of Marketing to promote elections, gathering applications and posting materials, setting up and managing the voting system, managing candidate pages, and managing board of directors and committee pages.
Other job-related duties as assigned.
Shift 40 hours per week; some nights and weekends.
Minimum Qualifications A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and 1 year of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.
Preferred Qualifications Familiarity with spreadsheets and Constant Contact; experience using social media for publicity/outreach purposes.
Anticipated Hiring Range Hiring Salary Range: $19.23 to $24.04 per hour.
