We are seeking an Advanced Practice Provider (APP) for the UNC Lymphoma Program. The APP's primary responsibility is to contribute to patient care for those with Hodgkin lymphoma, non-Hodgkin lymphoma, and CLL in outpatient clinics. The APP will also be part of the Hematology APP group, providing procedures such as bone marrow biopsies, lumbar punctures, and skin biopsies. Summary
The Physician Assistant functions within an interdisciplinary healthcare team, providing high-quality, cost-effective care in accordance with privileges approved by the credentialing committee. The APP aligns with the organization’s mission, vision, and values, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines, and standards. Responsibilities
Clinical:
Obtain patient histories, perform physical assessments, interpret diagnostic tests, develop differential diagnoses, and implement treatment plans including prescribing medications. Conduct preventive health screenings, maintain comprehensive records, and stay updated on disease processes and literature. Derive correct diagnoses, adjust care plans as needed, prioritize work, and perform medical procedures per departmental guidelines. Education:
Educate patients and families about medical conditions, collaborate with staff and students, develop educational materials, and participate in ongoing learning and training programs. Leadership:
Provide instruction and mentorship to staff and students, participate in outreach programs, and lead or contribute to system improvements and community initiatives. Professional:
Interact respectfully and effectively with patients, families, and team members, respond promptly to needs, accept responsibility, and share workload responsibilities. Quality/Research:
Engage in continuous quality improvement, participate in clinical and system assessments, lead interdisciplinary teams, and develop or revise protocols to reflect evidence-based practices. Other Information
Education Requirements:
Completion of an accredited graduate-level APP program. Licensure/Certification:
Licensed as an APP (e.g., Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant) in North Carolina, with board certification if required, and DEA registration. Experience:
No prior experience required. Skills and Abilities:
Demonstrated clinical competency, leadership, interpersonal, communication, analytical skills, and ability to work independently and collaboratively. Job Details
