Association Manager - Membership Organizations
Jaffe Management, a 50‑person association management firm in New York City, is seeking someone to serve as the association manager for one or multiple non‑profit membership associations. The role will be responsible for managing the association and all programs within the established guidelines and for all administrative and program responsibilities outlined below as well as all other duties required.
Key attributes we are looking for are someone who has exceptional communication skills, can articulate the message of the client, is a relationship builder, and has the ability to manage up as well as down.
Overall Leadership and Strategic Planning
Assist leadership in carrying out the organization’s mission.
Work closely with the Board of Directors on a daily basis to execute their priorities and proactively find opportunities.
Monitor and enforce the association’s policies and procedures.
Prepare management reports for the Board.
Volunteer Management & Governance
Work closely with board leadership.
Ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
Serve as liaison to selected committees.
Oversee the planning and administration of all board meetings.
Keep officers and directors informed of organizational operations.
Work with the president and appropriate volunteers and staff to set meeting agendas.
Review meeting minutes completed by team members.
Execute the decisions of the board.
Financial Activities
Prepare and monitor the annual budget as Treasurer.
Review accounting reports and monthly financials.
Manage long‑/short‑term investments with the Director of Finance and assist the auditor as needed.
Assist the Treasurer as needed.
Event Planning
Oversee and execute association meetings throughout the year, including large clinical conferences.
Participate in on‑site management of all events.
Assist staff, volunteers, and attendees at meetings and conferences as needed.
Fundraising & Development
Work with leaders to ensure effective solicitation of funds from industry and other interested parties.
Establish a plan to bring in non‑dues revenue through sponsorships, partnerships, and other funding streams.
Membership
Develop member relations, respond to inquiries, and maintain and improve communication channels.
Assist with member inquiries and maintain strong relationships with the membership.
Communications
Review and input all other communication items as necessary.
Develop communication channels through newsletters, emails, and social media.
Oversee and maintain the organization’s website on a regular basis.
Experience Required
Bachelor’s degree required.
Minimum of 10+ years of related industry experience in association management, nonprofit management, or event planning.
Application Process & Work Conditions
Work from Home but must be in the United States.
Occasional weekend and evening work, and up to 20% travel in the USA.
Compensation & Benefits
Salary: $75,000 – $95,000 per year.
Benefits include health, dental insurance, four weeks’ vacation, and retirement matching.
