What You Will Accomplish
Prepare food items, such as salads, soups, sauces, meats, and vegetables according to prescribed recipes and guidelines.
Read menu to estimate food requirements and requisition food from storage.
Adjust thermostat controls to regulate or maintain appropriate temperature of ovens, broilers, grills, roaster, and steam kettles.
Measure and mix ingredients according to recipe using a variety of kitchen utensils and equipment such as blenders, mixers, grinders, slicers, and knives.
Observe and test foods being cooked by tasting, smelling, and piercing with a fork.
Use thermometer to ensure food is cooked or maintained at proper temperature.
Carve meats, portion food onto serving plates, add gravies and sauces, and garnish servings.
Wash, peel, cut, and shred vegetables and fruits to prepare them for use.
Follow all standard food handling, sanitation, and health department guidelines.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, local, and company health, safety, and sanitation standards.
Wear non‑slip, oil‑resistant shoes and follow all safety policies and procedures.
What You Will Bring
At least six months of prior food prep experience.
Knowledge of food preparation and knife handling skills.
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, recipes, short correspondence, and memos.
Ability to work as part of a team.
Great If You Have
Culinary training or degree.
Current Food Handlers Card or willingness and ability to obtain one within 30 days of employment.
