The EHS Coordinator I plays a key role in establishing and promoting a culture of safety within assigned industrial service sites. This position focuses on ensuring compliance with internal safety policies and external regulatory requirements while supporting continuous improvement in health and safety performance. The role involves overseeing site-level safety programs, conducting regular audits, providing training, and implementing proactive safety initiatives to minimize risks, reduce workplace incidents, and maintain a safe, healthy work environment. Through collaboration with operations and site leadership, this position demonstrates a strong commitment to safeguarding the well‑being of all employees.
Key Responsibilities Training and Education
Assist in developing and delivering safety training programs, including emergency response, hazard recognition, and equipment operation.
Verify that all employees have required industry‑specific certifications such as OSHA or MSHA.
Conduct new hire orientations and hazard awareness training.
Lead or participate in daily safety meetings, drills, and toolbox talks to reinforce safety procedures and regulations.
Provide engaging leadership to enhance hazard recognition and mitigation skills among team members.
Maintain training documentation and ensure all materials are properly stored and accessible.
Enforcing Safety Policies and Procedures
Consistently apply safety policies to foster a culture of hazard recognition and prevention.
Implement and enforce site safety protocols, including company policies, client safety requirements, and regulatory standards (OSHA, MSHA).
Monitor work practices and job sites to ensure compliance with all safety and health regulations.
Conduct inspections covering Lockout/Tagout, permitting, work practices, and site conditions to identify and correct hazards.
Incident Investigation and Reporting
Participate in incident investigations, ensuring detailed documentation and identification of root causes.
Coordinate timely and appropriate medical response for injured employees.
Prepare and submit safety alerts, investigation reports, and corrective action plans.
Collaborate with operations and safety management to implement corrective measures and track completion.
Coordination with Operations
Maintain strong communication between operations and safety teams, ensuring availability and responsiveness to field personnel.
Partner with operations leadership to promote a culture where safety is a shared value across all levels.
Serve as a resource and collaborative partner for operations, providing guidance and support in safety initiatives.
Coordinate regularly with client safety representatives to ensure alignment with site and customer requirements.
Site Inspections, Audits, and Monitoring
Conduct and document daily site inspections and audits to identify potential hazards or non‑compliance issues.
Provide immediate corrective actions and follow‑up to ensure resolution.
Prepare daily safety reports and communicate findings to site and project management teams.
Recordkeeping and Documentation
Maintain accurate and organized safety records, reports, and documentation.
Support safety management with data collection, analytics, and preparation of safety meeting topics.
Regulatory Compliance
Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal safety regulations.
Support regulatory inspections and audits, ensuring documentation accuracy and completion of corrective actions.
Maintain awareness of current safety legislation and industry standards.
Stay informed about industry best practices and new safety technologies.
Collaborate with management to identify areas for improvement and implement enhanced safety strategies.
Provide field feedback to support process improvement and measure progress toward safety goals.
