Who We Are Finance & Administration (F&A) provides the foundation for LBRE operations, including budgets, capital funding coordination, documentation, IT systems, authority and approvals, internal controls, compliance, accounting, reporting, and HR for LBRE. F&A liaises with other university financial departments, research administration, human resources, the Cabinet, and the Board of Trustees.
Within F&A is the Finance for Academic Projects team. This position plays a vital role in contributing to the success of the department.

You are comfortable with financial systems and non‑financial systems, using technology to complement financial data analysis.
Proactive monitoring of transactions is second nature to you, and you interpret internal policies, rules, compliance, and external regulations to ensure proper action. You understand the importance of strong internal controls and use that knowledge to improve processes. You can identify and resolve significant issues, recognize exceptions, conduct in‑depth analysis using advanced technical knowledge, and have excellent Excel skills.
You enjoy sharing your knowledge with others in a collaborative environment. You are meticulous, detail oriented, curious, and act with integrity.
Who You Will Support The primary focus will be the Department of Project Management (DPM). DPM manages the majority of construction activity for the university, currently overseeing 310 projects totaling more than $2.5 billion.
What Work You Will Do
Set up requisitions for vendor contracts, code and review invoices, track and pay invoices, monitor project spending relative to the project budget, and close projects.
Reconcile data in LBRE’s project management software to the university’s Oracle financial system, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
Continuously analyze existing systems and processes, make recommendations for greater efficiencies and improved internal controls, define requirements, develop and implement complex test cases, perform testing, and analyze results.
Represent the organization to client groups and external partners; serve as a subject matter expert on technical, financial, or regulatory matters.
Assess client and business needs and formulate recommendations to determine approach to managing and completing processes.
Interpret, implement, and ensure compliance with university policies and procedures.
May train, coach, and review the work of other staff as needed, contributing primarily through applying individual expertise.
Liaise with the Controller’s office to resolve and correct issues.
Assist with special projects as necessary.
Additional duties as applicable to the role.
What We Are Looking For
You have a Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting or Economics and eight years of relevant experience (or a combination of education and experience).
You are proficient with Excel, including advanced formulas.
You have advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
You can interpret and apply advanced accounting knowledge and understand Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
You demonstrate knowledge of financial systems and are able to learn new systems quickly.
You possess strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
You have excellent analytical skills and can work independently and as part of a team.
You can perform with a high degree of accuracy under tight deadlines and multitask effectively.
You have demonstrated project management skills and can contribute/lead as part of a multi‑functional team.
Preferred but Not Required
Proficiency with Oracle systems in general.
MBA or CPA.
The expected pay range for this position is $132,995 to $154,275 per annum/hour.
