Business Development Manager (BDM)

for our Richmond, Virginia territory. The BDM will manage agency relationships, acquire new clients, and oversee renewals for tier 1 and 2 agents and brokers. The preferred residence is near the Richmond (Glen Allen) Branch. The BDM reports directly to the VP Personal Lines Manager. Key Responsibilities: Develop agency assessments and business plans to grow new business, retain existing clients, and cross-sell services. Identify new clients with annual premiums of $5,000 to $250,000+ through pipeline development, account pre-qualification, and territory analysis, leading to deal closures. Follow up on quotes and optimize them with agents. Manage renewal retention by effectively communicating rate and exposure changes using value-based selling. Implement best practices for new and renewal account management. Cross-sell and upsell existing clients through account rounding initiatives. Support assigned agencies with training on Chubb’s products and services, and updates on rate changes and enhancements. Respond to agency inquiries related to billing, policies, claims, commissions, licensing, and other operational matters. Coordinate home office initiatives and marketing campaigns, including attending events. Follow a disciplined sales process, documenting activities in Salesforce. Analyze book of business to identify trends and opportunities. Build trusted agency relationships primarily through in-person visits. Participate in internal meetings and report on performance metrics. Collaborate with Sales, Underwriting, Risk Consulting, and other departments on client acquisition, retention, and cross-selling.
