Design Communications Coordinator

Job Summary
Under general supervision, the Design Communications Coordinator is responsible for performing a wide variety of graphic art and promotional materials. The coordinator plans, researches, and develops concepts for visual communications such as publications, print, displays, and electronic media. Work is primarily inside an office environment and may exercise supervision over assigned staff.

Work Hours 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., Monday - Friday
Essential Job Functions
Collaborates with managers to review strategic direction and then conceptualizes and executes graphic design concepts that meet objectives.
Schedules, coordinates, and prioritizes the work of subordinates involved in the production of communications projects; provides aesthetic and technical direction.
Plans, researches, develops, and executes concepts for a variety of projects requiring graphic arts.
Attends project‑planning meetings with clients, team members, contractors, supervisors, and other professionals to discuss materials, layout, specifications, and product.
Determines size and arrangement of illustrative material and copy; selects style and size of type; arranges layout based on layout principles and aesthetic design concepts, discusses illustration at various stages and makes changes as necessary.
Prepares illustrations or rough sketches of material according to client or supervisor instructions.
Determines style, techniques, and medium best suited to produce desired effects and to conform with specific instructions.
Prepares series of drawings to illustrate sequence and timing of story developments.
Assembles final layouts for printer.
Determines project specification (size, type, paper weight, ink colors, folds, cuts) including costs and completion dates.
Maintains inventory of graphics supplies and equipment.
Produces designs into camera‑ready artwork for printer or silk.
Performs related duties and fulfills responsibilities as required.
Job Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university.
Three (3) years of increasingly responsible experience in working with projects of varied size and complexity in the areas of drafting and graphics.
Preferred Qualifications
Understanding of web concept design.
Social media strategy and creative design.
Applicant Information
Applicants may substitute two years of related full‑time experience for one year of higher education, or one year of higher education for two years of experience, to meet minimum requirements. One year of full‑time experience is defined as 30 or more hours per week for 12 months. One year of higher education is defined as 30 credit hours completed at an accredited college or university.

Ability to exercise independent judgment and work with minimal supervision.
