The Retail & Consumer Goods Industry team is looking for a
Director, Sales Strategy Enablement Specialist
to support the defined platforms and tool chains that elevate companies to unprecedented levels of transformation, productivity, and efficiency. As we embrace a rich future of digital empowerment, this strategy and technical leader will help the industry team drive transformation for our retail and consumer goods industry customers.
As a
Director, Sales Strategy Enablement Specialist , you will serve as a trusted advisor to Microsoft’s top Retail & Consumer Goods customers, driving thought leadership that will shape industry, competition, and solution strategies, build strong industry partnerships, and foster long‑term sustainable growth for both Microsoft and our accounts. You will connect closely with multiple engineering teams at Microsoft to translate market opportunity into platform capabilities, investments, and partner engagements, ensuring compliance and compatibility with industry‑specific decisions on the platform. You will also serve as a liaison between industry advisors covering customer accounts and product development teams for all industry‑specific requirements and solutions.

Responsibilities
Build long‑term trusted technology relationships with C‑Level decision makers, enabling strategic technology conversations.
Collaborate with key Retail & Consumer Goods Industry stakeholders—including engineering, field technical sales leaders, partner teams, marketing, and services—to develop a long‑term strategy to grow Microsoft’s share across the industry, focusing on adoption, consumption, and landing lighthouse deals.
Have a deep understanding of competitive differentiation and Retail & Consumer Goods specific certification and compliance regulations.
Initiate engagement in industry‑wide initiatives to grow the partner ecosystem and fill out the solution landscape across the industry.
Understand and drive the technical architecture aspects of Microsoft scale solutions.
Represent Microsoft at key industry events such as Microsoft Envision and the Executive Briefing Center.
Embody and promote Microsoft’s culture and values.
Qualifications Required / Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in business consulting, sales, information technology (IT), account management, business development, IT field sales, or a related field OR equivalent experience AND 5+ years of experience in business consulting, sales, sales operations, IT, account management, business development, or a related field.
6+ years of experience in strategy, business consulting, sales operations, IT, account management, business development, or a related field.
Additional or Preferred Qualifications
Master’s Degree in business administration or related field AND 5+ years of marketing, strategy, sales, sales leadership, program management, project management, business planning, consulting, banking, finance, economics, or partner organization experience; OR Bachelor’s Degree in business, computer science, or a related field AND 7+ years of marketing, strategy, sales, sales leadership, program management, project management, business planning, consulting, finance, economics, or partner organization experience.
7+ years in a technical leadership position working for a retail or consumer goods company.
Established industry experience, expertise, and credentials with customer line‑of‑business needs and deep industry solution technical expertise (10+ years in Retail and Consumer Goods).
Deep understanding of retail/consumer goods architecture and technologies, including embedded technologies and specific security, privacy, and safety regulations.
In‑depth understanding of partner ecosystems (Tier 1s, ISVs, SIs) related to industry solutions and the ability to identify leading solution vendors or integrators with repeatable solutions.
Experience applying AI and cloud‑based technologies in the retail and consumer goods industry environment.
Prior work experience in business strategy consulting or at a competing cloud/technology company.
Sales Strategy Enablement IC5 – Typical base pay range in the U.S. is USD 130,900 – 251,900 per year. In the San Francisco Bay Area and New York City metropolitan area the range is USD 165,600 – 272,300 per year.
