The Lead Integrated Cybersecurity Architect will champion established cybersecurity architectural principles, standards, and design patterns. This role is essential in guiding engineering teams in developing secure products and enterprise tools for both multi-cloud and on-premises environments. Focused on high-profile and complex products, this position requires close collaboration with product and engineering teams to ensure the integration of cybersecurity throughout the development process.

This position will serve as a thought leader and mentor for other cybersecurity architects, leveraging extensive knowledge in designing secure software and tools across cloud and on-premises environments. The successful candidate will lead the implementation of cybersecurity standards, influence cross-functional teams, and address unique cybersecurity risks tailored to specific business unit products.

This role reports directly to the Director of Integrated Cybersecurity Architecture at Cox Automotive.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Effectively communicate cybersecurity guidelines to engineering and business teams, support the adoption of these guidelines, and provide procedural, technical, and process advice.
  • Facilitate discussions regarding the adoption of cybersecurity best practices among product and engineering teams.
  • Collaborate with portfolio stakeholders to align the architectural direction with the solution’s intent.
  • Act as the cybersecurity lead on large-scale projects, ensuring consistent communication and alignment of expectations among cross-functional leaders.
  • Maintain a strong presence with engineering teams, advising on cybersecurity risks related to architectural decisions and assisting with the implementation of security controls.
  • Lead workshops to develop threat models for products and enterprise tools, helping teams devise strategies to mitigate identified threats.
  • Provide security guidance for new initiatives to guarantee compliance with corporate security standards.
  • Engage with cybersecurity colleagues to foster a cohesive cybersecurity environment and relay information on business-specific activities.
  • Participate in security incidents and responses to identify design gaps and propose preventive solutions.
  • Educate and mentor software engineers on cybersecurity best practices and standards.
  • Collaborate with legal and compliance teams to ensure cybersecurity architecture aligns with relevant regulations and contractual requirements.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field with at least 10 years of experience; alternative combinations such as a master’s degree and 8 years, a Ph.D. and 5 years, or 14 years of related experience will also be considered.
  • A minimum of 7 years of dedicated focus on cybersecurity.
  • Demonstrated experience in designing, securing, or operating AWS infrastructure and services.
  • Ability to clearly communicate the objectives of cybersecurity policies to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Exceptional customer service and presentation skills.
  • Proven ability to cultivate a collaborative working environment with key stakeholders and implement cybersecurity best practices.
  • Consultative approach to navigate complex topics with employees and senior leadership.
  • Ability to assess risks and recommend actions based on their potential impact to the business.
  • In-depth knowledge of current cybersecurity technologies and architectures, including zero trust, IaaS, PaaS, SaaS, virtualization, containerization, DevSecOps, and software-defined networking.
  • Creative problem-solving skills with solid business acumen.
  • Experience with Agile methodologies.
  • Proven track record of initiating change and deploying solutions in Fortune 1000 companies.
  • Understanding of cybersecurity frameworks and industry regulations guiding architectural requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in the development of cybersecurity best practices across various hosting and application stacks.
  • Knowledge of IAM, cryptography, secrets management, and security protocols.
  • Experience with application security implementations and best practices.
  • Strong technology expertise in areas such as Python, .NET, Java, cloud patterns, and authentication mechanisms.
  • Experience with firewalls and extensive understanding of network architectures.
  • Familiarity with the AWS Well-Architected Framework.
  • Experience establishing cloud enterprise solutions in AWS, GCP, or Azure.
  • Strong understanding of cloud containers and serverless platforms.
  • Experience in critical infrastructure industries (telecommunications, financial services, defense, etc.).
  • Background with big four consulting or Fortune 500 companies.
  • Relevant industry certifications such as CISSP, CEH, or AWS certifications.

The compensation includes a base salary range of $159,400.00 - $265,600.00, influenced by location and individual qualifications, along with potential additional incentives.
