Director of Manufacturing & Sustaining Engineering

Location: Westwood, MA

Type: Full-Time, Permanent | Reports to: COO

Compensation: $200K–$240K base + Annual Bonus + Equity

The Opportunity

As Director of Manufacturing & Sustaining Engineering , you’ll be the operational cornerstone guiding the company from FDA approval to commercial scale. You’ll oversee manufacturing, supply chain, and sustaining R&D functions — building the systems and team that will define the company’s next chapter.

Key Responsibilities

Manufacturing & Operations Leadership

  • Oversee manufacturing, supply chain, and logistics operations to ensure seamless product delivery.
  • Drive process optimization for efficiency, scalability, and cost-effectiveness .
  • Partner closely with R&D, production, and commercial teams to ensure smooth product transitions and continuous improvement.

Sustaining R&D

  • Lead sustaining engineering efforts to support post-market product enhancements.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance and adherence to quality standards across manufacturing processes.

Team Leadership

  • Manage and mentor a growing engineering team (currently 4 direct reports).
  • Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and operational excellence .

Budgeting & Strategic Resource Management

  • Develop and manage departmental budgets.
  • Allocate resources and investments based on R OI, scalability, and long-term strategy .

What You Bring

  • BS or MS in Engineering (Mechanical, Biomedical, or related field).
  • 15+ years of medical device manufacturing experience — ideally in catheter-based or implantable systems (vascular, endoscopic, or similar minimally invasive platforms).
  • 5+ years of leadership and people management experience.
  • Deep understanding of design for manufacturability, process validation, and supply chain strategy for regulated devices.
  • Strong communicator and cross-functional collaborator who can navigate between R&D and operations seamlessly.
