Advance Turning & Manufacturing, Inc. , global leader in Manufacturing machine components for Medical, Aerospace and Space Exploration, is in search of experienced material handler on 1st shift at one of our three Jackson locations.

SUMMARY:
Compiles and maintains material inventory and status information to expedite movement of material between production areas. Receives stores, prepares and distributes material to the manufacturing floor.
Position Requirements
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reviews production schedules, inventory reports, and work orders to determine type and quantity of materials required, availability of stock, and order priority.
Confers with department supervisors to determine overdue material and to inform supervisors of material status.
Expedites transfer of materials from stock area to production area.
Examines material received, verifies material numbers, and checks discrepancies such as damaged or unmarked material and/or improper/incomplete supporting paperwork.
Compares router specifications to material used at production cell to verify appropriate material is being placed in cell.
Unloading trucks, checking in Barstock, matching purchase orders to sales orders and distributing to production cells for machining.
Reading routers to determine Barstock to be moved, gathered, or distributed and/or shipped.
Moving materials and items from receiving or storage areas to designated areas.
Sorting and placing Barstock on racks, shelves, or in bins according to predetermined sequence such as size, type, style, color, or product code.
Ensuring the warehouse is accessible and safe for employee and customer traffic.
Marking materials with identifying information using appropriate method.
Recording amounts of materials or items received or distributed via appropriate computer program.
Assisting in counting of physical inventory.
Organizing warehouse and work area for orderliness at all times.
Assists in training new employees in the Barstock area.
Performs other duties and responsibilities as required or requested.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
