Job Summary
Performs administrative and complex technical work in providing support and maintenance for Human Resources. The Administrative Technician works closely with the HR department regarding HR duties, including managing employee files, legal and internal reporting, processing HR forms, scheduling interviews, answering phones, and assisting with the front desk.
Key Responsibilities
- Designs and runs detailed and complex reports from Workday and spreadsheets from Excel.
- Maintains HR websites and ensures external and internal sites are up to date.
- Answers employee questions or refers employees to the appropriate person.
- Assists public citizens and employees at the front counter; answers the telephone and disseminates information.
- Inputs and maintains evaluations for all employees, tracks and prepares reports for HR, County Administrator, and BOCC.
- Responds to requests for information from employees, management, outside agencies and the public; responds to HR policy questions.
- Represents Human Resources on Mesa County committees as requested.
- Communicates in clear oral and written form.
- Assists HR department with projects as needed.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Assists with biweekly onboarding meetings for new hires.
Recruitment Focus
- Assists the Recruiter with posting job announcement requests, contacting qualified candidates, coordinating interviews, scheduling job applicant testing, maintaining applicant system, and facilitating placement techniques.
- Assists in making offers of employment to selected candidates and attends job fairs when needed.
Benefit Focus
- Orders and delivers annual Federal and State compliance posters.
- Communicates new hire benefits to eligible employees; inputs accurate employee benefit elections, changes, and new hires/terminations into Eden system and vendor websites.
- Maintains compliance with DOT regulations; leads mandatory CDL trainings.
- Completes required forms for Driver's Qualification files for all new hires.
- Administers random drug and alcohol testing quarterly.
- Manages Mesa County employees' Driver's License information and notifications.
- Ensures annual driver's license checks for employees in marginal or essential driving positions meets Mesa County requirements.
Minimum Qualifications
- Two years of college or technical school and two years of related office experience, including Human Resources experience preferred.
- Any combination of education, training, and experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for the job.
Supplemental Information – Physical Requirements and Working Environment
- Requires standing, stooping, sitting, bending, twisting, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
- Work is generally confined to a standard office environment.
