Overview

Radiologic technologists in nuclear medicine are responsible for the preparation and administration of radiopharmaceuticals (radioactive medications) to patients for diagnostic imaging and treatment. The responsibilities of these professionals encompass explaining procedures to patients, ensuring radiation safety for both patients and themselves, maintaining and calibrating equipment, and meticulously documenting all processes. They work collaboratively with physicians to facilitate the diagnosis of conditions and provide essential data for patient care and research, typically within hospital, clinic, or laboratory settings. Qualifications

A minimum of two years of experience in nuclear medicine technology is required. Cardiology experience is also required. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is preferred. Certification Requirements

Certification from the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) is necessary.
