Nuclear Medicine Technologist We are seeking a Nuclear Medicine Technologist, also referred to as a Nuclear Med Tech. The Nuclear Medicine Technologist will perform diagnostic imaging procedures and therapeutic treatments using radioactive materials. They help in the diagnosis and treatment of various medical conditions by providing valuable information about the structure and function of organs and tissues within the body using nuclear medicine imaging techniques. This position is on a per diem basis, meaning PD/PRN as needed.

Responsibilities

Prepare radioactive materials, known as radiopharmaceuticals, for administration to patients, measuring and mixing the appropriate doses of radioactive isotopes with pharmaceutical compounds, ensuring accuracy and safety.

Administer radiopharmaceuticals to patients through intravenous injection, oral ingestion, or inhalation.

Perform imaging studies using specialized nuclear medicine equipment, including SPECT and planar scintigraphy.

Operate imaging cameras and detectors to capture images of radioactive tracers as they accumulate in specific organs or tissues within the body.

Adhere to strict radiation safety protocols to minimize radiation exposure to patients, staff, and yourself, ensuring that all radioactive materials are handled, stored, and disposed of safely and in accordance with regulatory guidelines.

Perform quality control checks on imaging equipment and radiopharmaceuticals to ensure optimal image quality and diagnostic accuracy, including calibrating equipment, conducting quality assurance tests, and troubleshooting technical issues.

Qualifications

Current State Nuclear Medicine License issued by CDPH, ARRT, or NMTCB.

Certification in Nuclear Medicine Technology required.

Graduate of a program accredited by ARRT.

Current BCLS (AHA) required.

Extensive knowledge of anatomy and medical terminology.

Proficient computer skills.

Preferred Qualifications

One year of acute, clinical radiology experience preferred.

At least one year of experience as a nuclear medicine technologist preferred.

Knowledge of mobile and stationary radiographic/fluoroscopic equipment preferred.
