Job Overview RWJBH is seeking an experienced Full Time Advanced Practice Provider Lead in the Coronary Care Unit at the New Brunswick campus. The APP Lead is responsible for performing duties independently following established and standardized procedures and methods referring questionable situations to physician. The APP provides rapid response care through assessment, diagnosis, clinical judgment and management to restore, maintain and improve the health status of patients. In addition, the APP is responsible for reporting identified safety issues such as hazardous environments (i.e. damaged floors/walls/ceiling tiles/unsecured areas) and medical errors. This is a hospital based position.
Responsibilities
Candidates should possess cardiac critical care management experience including ventilator and hemodynamic management and vasoactive drip use.
The candidate should be well-versed in common acute and critical cardiac conditions and associated medical and surgical treatments (e.g., AMI, ADHF).
Experience with mechanical circulatory support devices is preferred; capable of knowledge of uses in advanced cardiac recovery and shock.
Proficiency in procedures preferred: central line placement, arterial line placement, HD catheter placement, Swan Ganz catheter placement, transvenous pacemaker wire placement, chest tube/pigtail placement.
Demonstrated leadership experience as an APP or Nurse is preferred.
Must be able to develop and maintain a team; clinical lead to provide high level critical cardiac care.
Qualifications
Current NJ APN PA license required.
NCCPA certification required.
CDS required.
DEA required.
RN required.
BLS required.
ACLS required.
4-6 years of cardiac critical care experience required.
Experience with using POCUS is also preferred (heart and FAST exams).
Must be comfortable working to the full extent of licensure.
Must develop and maintain a team.
This position is a clinical lead and will be expected to work clinically providing high-level critical cardiac care.
Scheduling Requirements
Full Time.
Day Shift.
40 Hours.
Essential Functions
Administers injections, immunizations and oral medications, starts IV.
Assists physician by recording patient progress notes, issues diagnostic orders, transcribes orders.
Assists with various counseling and education functions.
Billing for patient services based on CMS and NJ State Board Regulations.
Demonstrates satisfactory knowledge and judgment to provide appropriate care for patients.
Develops plan of care for patients in coordination with multidisciplinary team and completes appropriate reports to physicians and family.
Documents and maintains patient records of services provided according to facility and nursing standards.
Establishes a collaborative relationship with other medical providers.
Examines patients to determine presence of illness, using physical findings, lab results, medical history; ascertains nature and extent of illness; prescribes treatments as indicated.
Interviews, instructs and advises patients regarding health and illness prevention.
Issues prescriptions to patients based on federal & state regulations.
Orders and reviews appropriate laboratory and diagnostic procedures; reviews all lab data and documents.
Participates in development of protocols.
Performs independent evaluations and treatment procedures in emergency situations.
Provides monitoring and continuity of care between physician visits.
Responsible for coordinating nursing and training programs on compliance with policies such as HIPAA, OSHA, Code of Conduct.
Responsible for maintaining the quality and adequacy of nursing practice.
Reviews and audits charts routinely.
Sutures wounds, incise and drain wounds, repair lacerations.
Works in collaboration with a physician to diagnose conditions as necessary.
