Job Description:
Job Summary:
The Nurse Practitioner has acquired appropriate training to provide mental health services, including evaluating, diagnosing, prescribing medications, and managing treatment for clients.
Essential Job Functions:
Perform client assessment and diagnosis for adult clients, develop a treatment plan, implement it, and provide follow-up and evaluation.
Complete psychiatric assessments, including obtaining relevant health and medical histories and ordering diagnostic tests.
Provide psychiatric diagnoses based on the DSM-IV-TR multiaxial system (Axes I-V).
Implement treatment plans, which may include brief psychotherapy and/or prescribing psychotropic medications.
Prescribe psychotropic medications and order diagnostic tests as delegated per a collaborative practice or supervision agreement with the Staff Psychiatrist.
Utilize experience and ability to meet client needs and treatment goals.
Manage a caseload, size and nature to be established with supervisory staff.
Communicate with attending physicians to identify problems and establish treatment goals.
Provide and coordinate comprehensive follow-up for clients.
Contribute to management needs such as data collection, program evaluation, grant development, and contract maintenance.
Participate in all required meetings.
Operate in accordance with Brightli's Operational Guidelines and professional ethics.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Establish effective relationships via phone and in person; follow directions and accept supervision.
Apply common sense to execute instructions in written, oral, or diagram form; handle problems with multiple variables in standardized situations.
Read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, manuals; write routine reports and document in clinical records; communicate effectively with residents, staff, families, and community contacts.
Language Skills:
Ability to read, interpret, write reports, and communicate effectively with various audiences. Mathematical Skills:
Ability to perform basic arithmetic operations. Reasoning Ability:
Apply common sense to carry out instructions and solve problems involving concrete variables. Experience and Education Qualifications: Master's degree in nursing as an Adult Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner. Current licensure as a Registered Nurse and credentialing as an Adult Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner in Missouri. Previous behavioral health experience preferred. Supervisory Requirements: None. Employment Requirements: Background check, including criminal, driving, abuse/neglect, and fingerprinting. Completion of New Hire Orientation and annual training. Valid driver’s license, acceptable driving record, and auto insurance. Physical Requirements: Sedentary work involving sitting most of the time, with occasional walking or standing, and repetitive hand movements.
